Launch of Series 2024 Twenty-five Cent Circulation Coin Commemorating the
50th Anniversary of the Central Bank of The Bahamas

In commemoration of its 50th Anniversary, the Central Bank of The Bahamas will release into circulation a painted version of its twenty-five cent circulation coin on 3rd June 2024. The new coin, which generally maintains specifications of the existing coin, will be the first painted circulation coin issued by the Central Bank, and is described as:

A round coin weighing 5.10 g, and measuring 24.26 mm in diameter and 1.78 mm in thickness, has a milled edge, bearing on the obverse the Coat of Arms of The Bahamas together with the words “Commonwealth of The Bahamas” which forms a crown around the Coat of Arms. Elements of the Coat of Arms are painted blue, white, pink, and green, highlighting the blue marlin, flamingo, and conch shell. Below the Coat of Arms is the date.

On the reverse is an artist’s rendering of a native sloop, infused with red, white, and brown paint, in sea painted blue, near an island, together with the words “THE CENTRAL BANK OF THE BAHAMAS”, “50th ANNIVERSARY 1974-2024”, and “25 CENTS”.
